Nana Ruby and No Dogs Allowed!

I love to visit Nana, and we live close enough that we get to swing by about once a week.  A lot of my cousins and family don't live close enough to make these short, frequent visits, so I like to post some pictures to give them their Nana fix. :)  Tuesday, Coco and I took these cuties for a little visit.  When Nana saw Don Carlos, she said loudly, but with a chuckle, "No dogs allowed!"

When she saw how Don Carlos sat on Freestone's lap and shivered, she amended her declaration to, "Well, Don Carlos, you are welcome in my house anytime!"  I didn't remind Nana of the time I brought my pet ferret to a family party and it ran away and hid.  I had to hang out after everyone left to find it.  Yikes!  Nana was not happy about that.  I wouldn't say mad, just mildly alarmed at the prospect of a wild ferret on the loose.  I only remember Nana getting mad one time, when I picked up the board in the garage that was used to wedge the door closed, and Opa tripped over it.  I felt terrible!  I could have caused Opa to get hurt!  So, it has to be a pretty big deal for Nana to even use a tone of dismay.  She is the best.
Tuesday, she was especially chipper.  When I asked her what was new, she said, "How am I supposed to know what's new when I don't even know what day it is?"  She laughed harder than anyone at that.  Then she said, "All my friends are dead.  I'm the last leaf of the tree."  We were trying to remember which of Nana's siblings are still living, and their numbers are dwindling.  Just last week, Coco and Nana went to Uncle Mac's funeral;  Nana's brother-in-law,  Harold MacNamara, Elmeda's husband, astronomy professor at BYU.  Elmeda is the sister who used to throw the fabulous Christmas parties.  Uncle Mac was the one who dressed up as Santa Claus and actually got on the roof and stomped around with his jingle bells.  If Elmeda could have figured a way for him to come down the chimney, she would have!
All these pictures are horrible of my kids, but shows Nana in such beautiful light, with such a happy expression on her face.  I asked Nana what advice she would give the younger generation, and she didn't have any.  We don't need any advice from Nana.  If we but follow her example, we can never go wrong.

First: Love the new header! Second, I love that you can visit your grandma. All my grandparents passed away before I was married, except for one and she died when Austin was one. I wish we had that opportunity! How great.
