When I said I was going to take the summer off, I was not kidding. We have nothing to do. Today was Ari's last cello lesson until August, and the others have had their last lessons, too. Nothing in the evenings, nothing in the mornings, nothing in the afternoons. It's nice. So we made a train out of the bar stools and swept.
We made pretzel ice cream sandwiches...
...which Freestone helped me buy stuff for at the store.
Ari and I even had time to make several-layer patriotic jell-o...
...and delicious cauliflower soup. Ari learned how to make a roux and mirepoix and use the immersion blender to cream it with cauliflower. That's all it is, but so good.
Then we did this, like we do every day. Usually, it's Cherry Hill. Tonight, it was Oakridge, and Dad even came!
Then we went home to eat these sugary treats which we'd made earlier, since the pretzel sandwiches, cauliflower soup and many layers of jell-o weren't enough. Like I said, nuthin' on our calendars.
Oh, and we bought this, too. Cheesecake! To go with all the other treats. YOU try shopping 1. hungry, 2. on a diet and 3. with a ten-year-old boy, and see if you can get out of the store without buying anything ridiculous.
(Um, and we also bought a package of oatmeal raisin cookies because Freestone loves them.)
After the Dopp 3rd of July Dessert Buffet, we went to see fireworks in North Salt Lake, one of the cities where Scott works. We even got VIP parking, which means that you get to park close to the fireworks. The trade-off is that you can't get out at the end. Tizzy was unhappy about that, seeing as it was four hours past her bedtime and her parents are in denial about babies having baby needs such as bottles of milk.
And here's proof. Doing nothing, waiting for the fireworks. Ain't life grand?

Your shopping saga reminds me of mine today...it was all I could do to keep buying the sugary, crunchy, yummy things! What's up with sliced peppers, cut carrots, and strawberries? gross.
Cute pictures Circe...I always love them.
