Tziporah was eager to dance in her Christmas recital with Studio 1. She was excited right up until the time to go onstage. Then she broke down. I left her backstage crying and went to the audience to enjoy my little stage queen rock the show. I was sure she would recover from her meltdown.
Nope. A teacher brought her out wailing and set her on the stage. She bawled the entire time, watching the other girls dance. After, a teacher had to carry her off the stage, still sobbing. I was laughing so hard, the video was extremely shaky.
Tziporah cried all the way to the audience, then cried anew when she saw Scott. The Christmas tree dance was worse, if you can imagine. Ruby and I went backstage with the diva. A teacher carried her on and she promptly toddled offstage. Then I took her on, whispering in her ear promises of a new Barbie doll (I hate Barbies!) if she would but act woody for a minute! No. She went off, taking off her costume as she exited. Last ditch, Ruby carried her on, where she stayed for a few seconds before making her final exit. She sobbed until it was safe to assume there would be no more stage time. Then the clouds miraculously cleared and the sun came out. Grandma gave her a lip gloss and she exuberantly showed her delight. Then she said, "Well, THAT was fun!"
I SWEAR Tziporah put on the whole crying act because she decided it would be the very best way to steal the show. And it worked.
We went straight from Tziporah's recital to Freestone's ballroom performance. I got to chaperne the boys, which was just fun. Freestone was great! I couldn't video because I had a bad angle from backstage, but he is so fun to watch, whipping his partner around. After the show, Tziporah made a break for the stage, dancing and singing her Bette Midler heart out. The only thing we could figure is that she won't perform unless she has the whole stage to herself, or unless she is planning on doing something outrageous, such as cry the whole time. The little cutie!
Ballroom was at Syracuse High, so we swung by Grandma and Grandpa's house afterward to eat some freshly made Christmas candy. Oh happy day!
