Ruby and PT

These two are best buds.  Everybody loves Ptolemy, but Ruby is especially susceptible to his charming manipulation.  He can wheedle just about anything out of Ruby.  She is a more desirable companion for Ptolemy than anyone else, certainly better than Mom.  Ruby lets him stay up later.  She sings to him and brings him drinks and tells him stories much better than Mom.  It is highly entertaining to play with her highlighters and sticky tabs while she does her homework, organize her hand sanitizers while she practices and get into her lip gloss while she's teaching.  Even though the other kids will tell you how often I say, "Just give Ptolemy whatever he wants!", Ruby is still more of a pushover than I am.  And that's saying a lot!

Ruby has been a natural caregiver since her baby sister, Araceli was born.  Once when Rolayne was tiny, Coco was going to babysit her and she was nervous.  Ruby said, "She should just let me do it.  I've raised more kids than Coco."  It's true; Ruby has raised twice as many babies as Coco, and she seems to be twice as good at it as any of the rest of us!  Ptolemy doesn't know how lucky he is to have all these sweet older sisters.  I just hope he someday reaches a point in his life when he is no longer mothered by five women.  His wife might disapprove!
