I thought for sure Araceli would get asked to Homecoming right away, even before school started. But she didn't get asked. We were all puzzled. Here she was, finally in high school, and she wasn't going to Homecoming. The week of the dance, a boy she liked wanted to hang out. So she said, "Do you want to ask me to Homecoming?" He did. Araceli got Lexie to take her dress shopping, and she planned a dinner at our house. She also had to come up with another couple to go with them, since her date can only go on "group" dates. They ended up with six beautiful, fun and happy kids at our house for a grilled cheese sandwich bar (thanks for the idea, Nikki!) and soup and salad.
Araceli's date was Kayden Golightly. He was a nice, friendly and fun kid. They all hung out for quite awhile before going to the dance. Afterwards, they roasted marshmallows at Kayden's house. I'm glad they went. High school is short, and you don't want to miss out on all the fun.
