Week at a Glance

The day after Victor left, Golda and Ruby had to be at a dance company thing at 7 am.  We were so behind the 8 ball.  We were scrambling to get things packed, paid for and signed up until the last minute.  It was a two-day Ririe-Woodbury workshop, and they got to stay overnight in Salt Lake with all their dance company friends.  They came home very sore from all the classes, but it was a good two days.  Meanwhile, Chloe and Olympe packed in two full days of shopping with Coco.  Really, the whole week is a blur, and I only know what we did because of the pictures I took!
 Wednesday:  Natural History Museum
Wifi!!!  Let's see what Victor is doing in Paris!
The horse exhibit mentioned an area near Peronne, where Chloe's country home is!

The group left a spot for Victor and ate a banh mi for him!
I think they were still feeling his absence. :)

 Kaysville Theater, best popcorn ever!

 Thursday:  Great Salt Lake

I have never floated in the Great Salt Lake.  Is that sad or what?  Olympe, Tizzy, Tolly and I were the only ones who cared to brave the brine flies and brine shrimp to float.  It was a cool experience!  You really do bob like a cork.  You float right on top of the water!  Never mind that you have dead brine flies stuck to your skin.  It's an experience, but not a beach day.  There are too many brine flies.  It is a serene, otherworldly landscape, though.  Very cool.

Tizzy was brave, but not coordinated.  She got the extremely salty water in her nose and eyes. Ouch!
Antelope Island is a fun day trip, with a visitors center and buffalo to see roaming the stark landscape.  One the way home, we stopped at Grandma and Grandpa's to raid the fridge and pick up Jake for a spur-of-the-moment sleepover.  Michelle and I told him to go get his stuff to sleep over and he came back with his Kindle.  We said, "Go get your pajamas and toothbrush so we can at least pretend you're going to use those things."  Ha ha.  That night, I got home from book club at midnight, confiscated all the Kindles, and the boys went to sleep on the floor in their clothes.  So Jake was accurate in predicting what he would need for the sleepover.
Friday:  Willard Bay with Nikki.  We rented a kayak and a paddleboard and lounged about all day.  So fun!  There was a big, huge church group from a Tongan ward there, playing - for some reason - Latin American radio music.  *more nostalgia for the trip!*

From Willard, Nikki took Freestone with her to the cabin and the rest of us went home for some wedding festivities and party prep.  Bring on the weekend!  But where did the week go!?  Can summer please slow down a little?  Or a lot!

Floating looks like such fun in spite of the flies. Bahn mi must be something to try too.

Glad the girl's dance classes went so well!

Great blog, all look so fun, even bobbing with the brine flies. Paddleboarding looks so fun, makes me want to try it. You certainly have had a fun summer and showed your visitors a wonderful time. xo Tricia
