Vegs, Babe!

Ptolemy used to say, "Vegs, Babe!"  It was the cutest thing.  We were in Vegas for two nights on this trip.  The Euros wanted to explore everywhere, and although they did cover a lot of ground, we could have used another night.  There's never enough time!  For me, the only thing I wanted to accomplish in Vegas was to get new batteries for my Swatches.  It was blazing hot on the Strip, and cool inside with my book, but I eventually made the trek to New York, New York to visit the Swatch store.  My Swatch friends got me all fixed up with new batteries and replacement hardware for broken wristbands.
I was so pleased, I tried to take pictures of my arm to send to Scott.  A guy saw me and took pity on me, offering to take a proper picture.  So here I am in front of the Brooklyn Bridge with my Swatch bag.

On the way back, I got lost.  How does one get lost on the Strip?  It's a straight line.  I can't explain it either, but I went in a casino to take a short cut and ended up at a 90 degree angle to where I was supposed to go. (Scott, stop shaking your head right now!)  When I emerged from the MGM, I was everywhere I warned the kids not to go.  Completely lost in a desolate alley far away from the crowds of Las Vegas Boulevard, holding a shopping bag and a phone whose GPS was as hot and turned around as I was.  It comical.  At least I had my pictures of my arm in front of the Swatch store, right?

Everything in Vegas is larger than life, including the distances between things, so it took me ten years to hoof it back to civilization while the sun personally assaulted me on every exposed inch of skin.
As soon as I got back, Freestone and Araceli wanted me to walk with them to the Swatch store.  The universe was messing with me that day! Ha ha ah!  On the kids' shopping adventures, Freestone had bought a Swatch at another location, but he wanted to exchange it.  I couldn't not go, so we walked back, this time with guides who wouldn't let me get lost.
Freestone got the Swatch he'd wanted!  Happy, happy!
Araceli recreated Scott's famous crawl across the real Brooklyn Bridge several years ago.  Celi and Free and I had dinner at the Shake Shack.  That part of Vegas is my fave.  When in Vegas, go to New York, I say.
Or go to In n Out, where I drove the other kids later for a late-night snack.
The next morning, we had a five-hour drive ahead of us to Mexico.  No big deal!  Five hours for this crew of veterans: no sweat.  We even left the hotel after sunrise and stopped to take a pic by the Vegas sign.  Until next time, Vegs.
