Lion House Birthday

As Araceli opened a gift from Coco and Bill tonight, Xanthe said, "All the birthdays are Ari's." It's been a long week for a certain four-year-old whose birthday is in April. Right now, it's true, all the birthdays are Ari's. The most important one was the long-awaited Lion House party. The pioneer games, the cake with the gumball hidden in it, the taffy pulling and the dainty little tea party all took place in the Childrens' Room of the beautiful and historic Lion House, where everything is ever so magical. The girls wore bonnets and imagined for a moment what it would have been like to grow up with 56 brothers and sisters, in a place where the desert was blooming under the industrious hands of the early Mormon settlers. We are free of so many of the hardships they faced. In fact, it is precisely because of our pioneer ancestors' toil that we were able to sit in luxury at the Lion House and enjoy a night of festivities. The little girls who lived in that house could scarcely have imagined their descendants revisiting their abode to celebrate in such comfort. Araceli has wonderful friends, ebullient little pioneers in their own right, girls who were a delight to spend time with. Thank-you, all!

What a fun party. It is just one more thing that helps to make the 8th birthday more magical. I can hardly wait for it to be Izzy's turn.

It looks like so much fun! I love poor little X. One more reason I think you should get to celebrate a birthday more than once a year!

My nieces just celebrated their eighth birthday at the Lion House. They, too, loved it all - except the picture hanging right outside the children's room door that was made of human hair. GROSS!
