Here is one of Golda's Wonderland-inspired pictures. She's rehearsing for a production of Alice in Wonderland, so it's all about Lewis Carroll's bad acid trip around here lately. Last night, Grandma and I took 7 adorable kids to "Alice" at WX High. For Golda, it was research for her role to see another production of the play. Aunt Loretta's brother, J. D., pictured here with us and a random cast member, was the director. The play was wonderful, and the other kids around us were noisier than ours, so I was happy. After the show came the ice cream. Isn't that the whole point of going to a play? The kids probably ate more ice cream than the taco soup I fixed for dinner. It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that we have had a variation on taco soup roughly five out of seven nights of the week since Christmas. And cereal the other two. Anyone have any other ideas for sustenance? Give me your best easy recipe. No, wait. Give me your best idea for something we can eat that requires either no advance planning at all or 4 minutes of dumping stuff in a crock pot at 9:00 AM. An actual recipe would be too optimistic. Something a step up from cheese sticks in the car on the way to play practice...

I'm so glad you guys had fun. Thanks for taking the kiddos. They had a great time. I'm glad Grandma could join in on the fun. Next time, when Ryan is in town to watch Izzy, I can join the party. Thanks for all you do for us. Oh and I hear ya on the recipe thing. Cooking dinner is not my favorite.

I SO hear you on the whole dinner thing. If I don't have dinner ready except to cook by noon, then my kids have to forage like poor, little critters.
Some of my easy favs:

Italian Chicken
Spray pam in bottom of crock pot.
Put 5-6 chicken breasts in bottom of crockpot, and pour a bottle of Italian salad dressing over the top. Serve with rice and a green salad.

BBQ Chicken
Spray pam in bottom of crockpot, put 5-6 chicken breasts in and dump your favorite BBQ sauce over chicken. (I use cattlemans) You can then either serve it whole, or shred it and put it on hard rolls.

Awesome Potroast
potroast
1can cream mushroom soup
1/2envelope dry onion soup
3/4-1cup water
Let cook until pot roast falls apart... i use the leftover sauce for a gravy... I just pat the potroast down with flour. My family goes ga-ga for this one!

There is a website called allrecipes.com that has literally saved my poor starving family. We should start a recipe blog or something! I am always needing new stuff to throw into the mix! Good luck! If you need more, email me, and I will happily share!

Circe-
I sent out an e-mail to book club about doing some recipe swaps via blog. Maybe we can dedicate a section of the blog to quick, easy dinners! I left the link for you. Remind me to send you a link to my blog as well.

I just made a quick and simple dinner. Buy a package of ravoili's at walmart I think the package is like 1.50. Fry some meat and add your favorite pasta sauce. Then I put the ravioli is a pan spread it with the meat sauce and then sprinkle it with cheese. It is a really simple and fast dinner.

I loved Golda's flower picture. It was so bright and cheerful in this blah weather! Easy recipes...huh?? How about Dominos?
Seriously..here is my fast and easy besides soft tacos which are always good.

Quick chicken..must be thawed

Boneless chicken breast sliced
green pepper
white onion
can of cream of mushroom soup

Spray wok or skillet with pam. Saute chicken. Mix in the veggies to brown for a few minutes.
Add cream of mushroom soup and 1/2 cup water. Salt and pepper to taste. Serve over rice. You can also add soy sauce or lemon to the chicken for flavor.

Pasta Bake

1/2 Rotini noodles uncooked
1 bottle Ragu sauce
1 bag shredded cheddar cheese
salt and pepper and a sprinkle of basil or oregano

Dump noodles into casserole dish. Sprinkle with salt, pepper and basil. Add 1/2 cheese. Pour Ragu on top. Fill empty ragu jar with water and add. Cook 45 minutes at 350 degrees covered. Take off cover, sprinkle the rest of the cheese on top and cook for 10-15 min.

Hey Circe... Happy Birthday to Xanthe tommorrow! What a precious little girl she is. I would love to get all the Yiyang girls (at least those in town) together for a little "birthday/gotcha" party this spring... I will try to get my act together! Thank you for all of your kind words. Your family is so cute. I love to read about their daily comings & goings!
