Cinco de Ruby

Nana was a good sport on Cinco de Mayo, another fake holiday, this one contrived (probably by Americans) to commemorate a minor Mexican battle.  Maybe I'm being a tad cynical.  But hey...pinatas!  Who doesn't love an excuse to celebrate?  Nana's comment:  "Well this is cute.  What's that green stuff?"

They didn't have much guacamole in Fillmore back in the day, and it certainly wasn't part of the Dutch cuisine Nana Ruby adopted into her cooking repertoire when she married Opa.  Always learing new things, even at "almost a hundred!"
And speaking of avocados and adventure, Ptolemy wanted to plant this pit after he "got all the green stuff off of it."  Thanks, buddy.  I told him that avocados don't grow very well here.  They need more sunlight.

"Hmmm..."  He pondered carefully before lighting up.  "Where will I plant it?  Another country!?  Can we go now!?"

My kinda kid!
