These three left last Thursday for New York City. I took them to the airport at 4 am, then came home for a nap before 6:30 piano! Araceli and Freestone had been saving up and paid for their airline tickets and had some money for shopping. For a year, it's been "No, don't buy that. Save your money for New York!"
It was all worth it. The trip was perfect from start to finish. All three had the best time.
First stop after touching down in Queens, uber took them to their airbnb in Brooklyn, then they took the subway to the Bronx for a Yankees game. Scott doesn't mess around. You hit the ground running. He got these tickets for six bucks each on a flash deal. You had six minutes to book them. And they got to see Alex Rodriguz break a record. The details are fuzzy to me, because I wasn't there, but Yankee Stadium, pizza slices, ice cream, cheering fans, beautiful weather. Enough said.
The room was nice and comfy, the building was a dive, the neighborhood (in Williamsburg) was great. Two out of three ain't bad.
They had tickets for the 9-11 Memorial Museum the next morning at 9:30. This was first on Araceli's list.
Isn't he dapper?
The museum in in the footprint of one of the towers, and you can see the actual footings.
Chinatown for shopping and Little Italy for lunch
Freestone's number one goal for the New York trip was to buy more cards for his Magic the Gathering trading card game. Scott found a cool shop that you had to get buzzed into. The guy at the store helped Freestone get the most for his money. He even got his mom a starter pack. Yaaay. Now I can play more card games.
Friday night was Matilda on Broadway and they all said it was excellent and amazing.
