Those Autumn Saturdays

As I said, we were about to leave our house for Fall Break, turning 769 over to the Mennonites.  I like to pack early, so our bins of Beanie Boos had been in the back of the car for a week.  We just had a few loose ends to tie up...

Nutcracker Pictures!  Araceli is loving being in Nutcracker as a Lady in Waiting.  She looks especially glamorous, don't you think?  I just happened to catch her while I was at the studio dropping of other kids or money or something, or picking up Freestone from his haircut down the street.  Mice can't have shaggy hair, now can they?

Waiting for his turn to play, Ptolemy watched Freestone pull of one of the Seitz concertos, which his mom made him work very hard on for 2 weeks.
College Game Day from ESPN was in Salt Lake on this day, featuring our Utes, so we thought it was appropriate for Ptolemy to wear an oversized Utah jersey to his recital.  Other kids thought it was appropriate to wear suits and ties.  Potato, potahto.
Xanthe has started over on piano, with some new techniques.  It's good brain exercise, she likes it, and she did a very good job at the recital.
After the recital, there was a big event at Heritage Park.  We made a scarecrow and colored pumpkins.  Then there was the Utah game for Scott and Ruby's Halloween dance "day activity" with John Harvey and a big group of friends at Black Island Farm.  I love these autumn Saturdays.  They're chock full of good things and backlit with the happiest light and colors.  As that happy color faded, we took a little catnap, then set out for a much-anticipated trip to Imperial Beach.
