Moonlight

Moonlight Serenade is the Davis High Band fundraiser for the year.  You have to get tickets early, because they sell out four nights of prime rib dinners, accompanied by dancing and big band music.  Two years ago, we were all in the kitchen volunteering because Golda was in marching band.  Last year, Scott and I sat with strangers.  We were there to see Dance Company perform.  This year, we got smart and went with Aunt Loretta and Uncle Ken, who go every year, and Bruce and Marlene, who are now probably planning on going every year, it's such a fun night.
Each girl in Dance Company has to convince a boy to be her partner for some big band dances.  These boys usually aren't dancers, and they have to commit to rehearse every Wednesday from 2:30 to 4 from February until April.  I'm pretty sure none of them know what they're getting into when they sign up, but they all end up having the best time.  The last night of the show, they all go out to IHOP and stay until the wee hours.  Scott and I both fell asleep long before they got home.  I was in Fillmore, waiting to hear if they got home safely, but I gave up and turned it over to God.  They finally got home at 2!
The most fun and energetic ladies, Loretta and Marlene.  Honestly, I don't know where they get their drive, but they are always up for anything.
Same with Ken and Bruce.  When the jazz band played the military medley, and veterans stood up to be honored, we had the chance to admire these two men as they stood humbly to be recognized.  It was all I could do to hold back the tears, I'm so proud of them.
 Such a fun night!

Ruby's partner Josh is in preparation to take 6 AP tests, yet he was very diligent in getting to all the rehearsals, and he was a good sport.  And cute!  And so polite.  Same with Golda's partner.

 I love these pictures!
Golda, Ashley Paget and Emily Abel, dancing together since age 4.
Some of the sophomores, Ruby with Emily Major and Amy Abel.  Moonlight was a sweet little coda to the hard work of Spring Show last week.  Next week is auditions and then we start all over again!
