Swan Song

I know this is Ruby...even though I'm mostly writing about Golda.:)
This Thursday and Friday is the culmination of Golda's whole life in modern dance.  She began taking modern from the great Sarah Robinette when she was in third grade, and has continued every week for the past ten years.  Her modern training, along with ballet, was what helped her make Dance Company at Davis High, which she has done for the past two years.  It has been a rewarding experience, which has come to define her somewhat in the eyes of her peers, because it's what she does at school.  The Spring Show is the dance equivalent of your team going to the championship, in that it is the the culmination of all the hard work and training, even if you're not in competition with other dance companies.  This is it.  Ruby still has two more years of Dance Company, but this is Golda's swan song.  There is even a piece she choreographed in the show.

I am proud of Golda for working so hard.  I was looking at old scrapbooks, and Golda was missing from a lot of the pictures.  She has always been working.  At dance all the time, or practicing flute, doing homework, rehearsing for a play, cleaning her room, studying her scriptures, eeking out any measure of achievement from every five-minute increment.  It's who she is, for better or for worse.  I hope she can find a healthy work/life balance as she grows older, you know, after her mission.  Because the mission will just be work, no life.  So she's prepared for that!

And she's prepared, along with her friends, for this concert.  Please come.  It's at the Davis High auditorium Thursday and Friday at 7:00.  Tickets are $5 at the door.  You'll be flabbergasted at what these young dancers can do.  And who doesn't want to be flabbergasted? ;)

Boy, I'm behind. I pulled up the blog and had missed the last 3 entries. I always love hearing all the details about what's going on in your lives. I know we talk often, the I still enjoy the play by play. Izzy had a great time at the party. Thanks for including her. We're also glad we have our tickets for the DC show. Ryan and the girls will be there Friday night. Everyone is excited to see them. You know I'll be there in spirit!!!
