Canada

Ptolemy had some lofty goals for Christmas Break.  Grandma's house, we could do, but Canada...I know it's only 12 hours away, but it's winter up there!  Besides, the ice palace Ptolemy wants to visit is in Quebec, not Alberta, so I don't think Calgary would suffice.  Instead, we took a pretend trip to Canada.  The kids knew I was joking, but they went right along with our Canadian excursion, which started at This is the Place Monument, took a pitstop in Emigration Canyon for sledding, and ended at the Ranch in Park City.
Sledding was pretty darn fun. Afterwards, I let them choose any restaurant, and they came up with McDonald's.  Wow.  It was a momentous occasion; they got happy meals!  They could not have been more thrilled if I'd taken them to F.A.O. Shwartz.  The kids meals came with little bears.  From Canada.  ;)

The kids were exhausted from going all the way to Canada, and probably from sledding too. At 6:30 PM, I slipped them slivers of melatonin and they were out like hibernating cubs.  Ah!  Solitude after a day well spent.  It doesn't get any better than that.  Even in Canada.

LOL! What a great trip! Did the kids try the grilled cheese happy meal we have here? Quite the hit with kiddos although mine still prefers chicken McNuggets. Hmmm...what else is different about our McD's? Not much. (I did have McSpaghetti at McD's in the Philppines though!!)

When you do decide to venture north...and waaay east, please let us know! We haven't visited the ice castle in Quebec either but it sure looks like fun. My first recommendation though is that you encourage Ptolmey to visit Niagara Falls! :o)
